Happy Easter St. Augustine Family,
Today we celebrate the Sixth Sunday of Easter. In the Gospel, we hear Jesus say to His disciples (and to us) that those who love Him will keep His Word, and His Father will love them and that he and the Father will come to them and make their dwelling within them. Why does Jesus stress the importance of “keeping His Word”? Psalm 119 describes God’s word as “a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”. Without His Word we are in the dark and unable to see the right path forward. In addition to God’s Word we need God’s Spirit – the Holy Spirit - to lead and guide us; empower and inspire us. Only then will we experience the fruit of one of God’s most precious gifts for which our hearts long: The Gift of Peace. This is the peace that the world cannot give and the world cannot take away!
Mass is celebrated on Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. and on Sundays at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. The 12:30 p.m. Mass will be live-streamed via our YouTube Channel.
Our Pastor asks all wage earning parishioners to make a concerted effort to increase their contribution. Today, the 15% Archdiocesan Offertory Tax is only applied to the average amount collected on a typical Sunday in the year. This Easter please ensure to USE YOUR EASTER ENVELOPE throughout the Easter Season so we can exceed the average Sunday Collection.
Please consider giving at least a $100 offering in your Easter Envelope or using Faith Direct. Of course, for those who have the means, you are encouraged to give significantly more! Your generous Easter Gift will expedite the efforts to do the urgently needed repairs of the Parish Center roof. Thank you!

If so, then Saint Augustine Parish’s Improving My Personal Act with Christ (or IMPAC) Retreat may be just what you need! As part of our Parish’s ongoing Adult Faith Formation effort, we invite you to register for the 2022 IMPAC retreat. The retreat will be held from Friday, June 24 to Sunday, June 26, at the Claggett Retreat Center in Adamstown, Maryland.
Please note that space is limited—applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and will be restricted to parishioners who never attended an IMPAC Retreat. The deadline for registration is June 10, 2022.
Vincent Brooks was a lifetime member of the parish who gave of his time & talents tirelessly & selflessly, and was known for his quiet strength & persistent humility.
Since 1981, the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) has invited parishioners to prayerfully search their hearts and minds in nominating a Vincent Brooks Service Award recipient who models exemplary servant leadership, often doing so behind the scenes like Vincent Brooks.
Please note, this is a one-time award, so consult the list of prior winners on the nomination form before submitting it. The nomination period has been extended to Friday, May 27 by 11:59 p.m. The PPC will review & vote on the nominations and present the 2022 awardees on Trinity Sunday weekend, our Parish Anniversary. Six for Sainthood Movement!
As we shared with you last week, our parish has joined the growing national movement, led by the Josephites, embarking on a grassroots campaign to encourage Pope Francis to expedite canonization of the six Black American candidates for Sainthood. At the back of the Church, there are printed copies of the letter to Pope Francis for those who would like to send it by postal mail. Beginning in June, we will launch an educational series on the lives of the Six for Sainthood.
