Dear Parishioners:
It seems every day we hear and experience more and more violence and volatility. It showed itself in the horrific school shooting in Texas in which at least 21 people were killed by an 18-year-old this week. It showed itself in the racial hatred on May 14th when a white supremacist shot 13 people, 11 of them black, in a predominantly black neighborhood in Buffalo, NY. It shows itself in the violent death and destruction in Ukraine, Yemen, and other war-torn areas of the world. It shows itself in our restless hearts as we just try to live out our lives.
How do we cope in a world so volatile? What should we do? We should let Our Lord know of our pain and confusion. We should cry out to him as did the disciples when the sea was rough, and he was asleep. We need to let him, and the Father know of our plight and trust that they will hear us and help calm this crazy world.
Additionally, I want to share with you a powerful prayer that may help you find some peace and connection with God. It’s called the Unity Prayer. It goes like this:
My Adorable Jesus
May our feet journey together
May our hands gather in unity
May our hearts beat in unison
May our souls be in harmony
May our thoughts be as one
May our ears listen to the silence together
May our glances profoundly penetrate each other
May our lips pray together to gain mercy from the Eternal Father.
Amen.
This wonderful prayer is said to blind Satan from seeing you; it draws you that close to Jesus. I pray this prayer every day. I hope you find comfort in it. Keep the faith! Know that Our Lord is near. He will never abandon us. “I am with you even until the end of the age.” Mt 28:20
