Son of Seton, Deacon Mark Hellinger, will be ordained into the priesthood on Saturday, June 4, at 11 am, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne. He will celebrate his first Mass on Sunday, June 5, at 2 pm with a reception following Mass. All are invited to this joyous celebration.
As Deacon Mark approaches his ordination, we ask all parishioners to pray the novena below starting on Friday, May 27, through Saturday, June 4, to give him all the graces he needs to continue saying YES to the Lord.
NOVENA FOR Deacon Mark Hellinger
May 27-June 4
Day 1 (May 27): For Deacon Mark and all men preparing for priestly ordination to discharge without fail the office of priesthood as they care for the Lord’s flock.
Day 2 (May 28): For Deacon Mark and all men preparing for priestly ordination to exercise the ministry of the Word worthily and wisely, preaching the Gospel and teaching the Catholic faith.
Day 3 (May 29): For Deacon Mark and all men preparing for priestly ordination to celebrate the Sacraments faithfully and reverently, for the glory of God and the sanctification of the Christian people.
Day 4 (May 30): For Deacon Mark and all men preparing for priestly ordination to implore God’s mercy upon the people entrusted to their care, by praying without ceasing.
Day 5 (May 31): For Deacon Mark and all men preparing for priestly ordination to be united more closely to Christ the High Priest and consecrate themselves to God for the salvation of all.
Day 6 (June 1): For Deacon Mark and all men preparing for priestly ordination to be respectful and obedient to Bishop Rhoades and his successors.
Day 7 (June 2): For Deacon Mark and all men preparing for priestly ordination to remain faithful in their commitment to celibacy for the sake of the Kingdom of God, in service to God and man.
Day 8 (June 3): For Deacon Mark and all men preparing for priestly ordination to persevere in their vocation until death and be kept safe from every diabolical attack.
Day 9 (June 4): For Deacon Mark and all men preparing for priestly ordination to understand what they do, imitate what they celebrate, and always conform their lives to the mystery of the Lord’s cross.
Prayer:
Jesus, Good Shepherd,
You sent us the Holy Spirit to guide Your Church
And lead Her faithful to You through the ministry of Your priests.
Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, grant to DEACON MARK HELLINGER wisdom in leading, faithfulness in teaching, and holiness in guarding Your sacred Mysteries.
As DEACON MARK cries out with all the faithful, “Abba, Father!” may he be ever more closely identified with You in Your divine Sonship and offer his own life with You, the one saving Victim.
Make DEACON MARK a helpful brother to his brother priests and an understanding father to all Your people.
As we approach Pentecost, renew in DEACON MARK a deeper faith, greater trust in You, childlike reliance on our Mother Mary, and unwavering fidelity to Pope Francis and Bishop Rhoades and their successors.

Congratulations to our 8th graders from Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School who received their diplomas this morning (Wednesday) after celebrating Mass with their families and the entire school community.
Of the 41 graduates, 18 students will attend Bishop Luers High School, 11 students will attend Bishop Dwenger High School, 11 students will attend Homestead High School, and one student is still undecided.
Please keep all of our graduates in your prayers as they move into high school. May they share the light of Christ wherever God sends them throughout their lives.
Congratulations to Son of Seton, Deacon David Langford, who was ordained to the diaconate by Bishop Rhoades on Saturday, May 21. Deacon David has been assigned to St. Jude parish in South Bend this summer.
