Dear parents,
The shocking events in Uvalde, Texas have once again shaken our world and broken our hearts. As educators and parents, we are struggling to come to terms with such grievous acts of violence in a school.
First, we want to assure you that STM is a very safe place to be, both physically and spiritually. As you know, the doors are on constant lock down and heavily guarded by the front office, we have excellent camera systems, and a very secure campus. More importantly, our staff cares for your child(ren) beyond measure and we will do whatever it takes to keep your child(ren) safe.
Second, due to the graphic nature of the events, we will not be discussing them explicitly with the students. However, we recognize that they may have questions or concerns. As partners in your child(ren)'s education we ask that you speak to your children about the events in an age appropriate manner. Attached to this message is a website that can help you to approach these conversations with your child(ren).
Lastly, please pray! Pray for those affected directly, but also please pray for parents and teachers in general as we need the support and help that only God and our Blessed Mother can offer. Our faith teaches us that prayer is not an empty exercise, it is out connection to God, our salvation, and our rescue in times like these. We all need that connection, especially now.
Know that we are here for you and your family, we are blessed and proud to be an important part of your lives.
Together in Christ,
Mrs. Gretchen DeWolfe, Principal
Mrs. Kili Gruber Hady, Assistant Principal
