Men:
We are two weeks away from the start of our TMIY Summer Session on June 14. Details about the session are noted below. This email is to give you some advice on pre-reading before the session. Over the last few weeks, the majority of the books were (or are) available for pick-up in the St Monica's Choir Room at the back of church. The books were marked with your name on them. If you haven't picked up your book, it's probably a good time to do that. Some of the books were delivered to your address or sent by mail. If you still need a book, there are a couple left. Let me know if you need one.
The first session discussion will be on Chapter 1 - "Incredible Possibilities". There is a great chapter summary on pages 36 & 37 which should be a help to all of us. A couple of days before the session I will issue discussion questions which will frame the conversation. These questions will be similar in style to the TMIY questions that we are all familiar with.
Although our summer session is primarily "live", there will be a concurrent hybrid zoom available. Let me know if you are interested in the zoom.
I am looking forward to the sessions and a great discussion of "The Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic".
By popular demand, we will run our fifth TMIY summer book session with Matthew Kelly's "Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic". Kelly's books have been a favorite with our group having completed "Rediscover the Saints" and "I Heard God Laugh". Other books we have discussed are "Into Great Freedom" and "The School of Nazareth" by Mark Hartfiel and the famous (and easy read) "Introduction to a Devout Life" by St. Francis de Sales.
In the "Four Signs....", we will discuss topics such as - your spiritual health, the genius of Catholicism, the happiest people, changing the world and a new level of thinking.
We are planning to start the program on Tuesday, June 14 in the Hagenbach Room at St. Monica. Sessions will be live and will also be zoomed simultaneously, for those who are traveling. Doors will open at 6:30am and the discussion will run from 6:45 to 7:30am. Meeting dates are every other Tuesday and are June 14 & 28, July 12 & 26 and August 9 & 23.
We ordered the books in bulk, so more to come on that (word to the wise - register early for free book). Please let me know if you are planning to attend so books and logistics can be arranged. Even if you cannot make all the sessions, you are most welcome to attend those you can.
Drop me a note to register at
tlmcgurk@aol.com to indicate your interest.
Peace and all good,
Tom McGurk and Bob Schubert
