Newly ordained Fr. Jody DiMaggio went to St. Benilde School from Kindergarten through the 7th grade from 1978 to 1985. He was a student at St. Benilde when Sr. Goretti, St. Loretto, Sr. Cecilia, Sr. Columbia, and Sr. Ann were all teaching at the school (for those who remember).
Fr. Jody says he first felt the call to the priesthood very strongly while attending Mass at St. Benilde. Yet he wasn’t ready to say yes to the call. He went on to attend Brother Marin High School, Tulane University, and Penn State. He then "hid out from God" in his family business for a number of decades.
However, that tug toward the priesthood would not go away, and so he finally entered Seminary 6 years ago, and is so glad that he did! Fr. Jody is very
excited about being a priest for the Archdiocese of New Orleans, and feels that he owes a large part of his discernment to St. Benilde Parish.
Please join us in celebrating Fr. Jody DiMaggio's vocation to the priesthood on Sunday, June 12 at 11:00 a.m. during a Mass of Thanksgiving.
