Dear Friends,
You are receiving this email because you have at some time in the past participated in one or more programs concerning Catholic Social Teaching as it applies to racism. In February many of you joined us for Fr. Dan Horan’s presentation on “Racial Justice,” and since then have read, or are planning to read his book, A White Catholic’s Guide to Racism and Privilege.
To further our understanding of systemic racism in our country and in the Church,
the North Seattle Deanery Racial Solidarity Network is offering a facilitated Zoom discussion on White Supremacy and American Christianity. The discussion will be based on a YouTube presentation featuring Dr. Robert P. Jones, CEO of Public Religion Research Institute, Fr. Bryan Massingale, S.J., Chair of Applied Christian Ethics at Fordham University, and Dr. Marcia Chatelain, Professor of History and African American Studies at Georgetown University. This presentation addresses the role that white supremacy has played in shaping the culture, hierarchy of human value, and power dynamics within American Christianity, and calls us to discern what this means in our lives and how we are called by our faith to respond.
If you are interested in this discussion, please view the YouTube presentation prior to your Zoom session. You can access the presentation at this link:

Two Zoom groups are offered:
June 22, 7:00-8:15pm
June 23, 10-11:15am
This event is sponsored by the North Seattle Deanery Racial Solidarity Network, a grassroots network of Catholic parishes, including St. Luke’s, who are collaborating to promote awareness, education, and action about systemic racism.
