Catechism Quote of the Week
45. Can the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity be known by the light of human reason alone?
God has left some traces of his trinitarian being in creation and in the Old Testament but his inmost being as the Holy Trinity is a mystery which is inaccessible to reason alone or even to Israel’s faith before the Incarnation of the Son of God and the sending of the Holy Spirit. This mystery was revealed by Jesus Christ and it is the source of all the other mysteries.

Prayers for Gaylord and all effected by the recent tornado
Gaylord was hit hard today (May 20)
with a devastating tornado. Our prayerful solidarity is extended to all who have
been affected by the afternoon storm. We are grateful to God that our diocesan
and Cathedral staff came through the storm safely. Staff was sheltering in the
basement as a tornado hit a few hundred yards away. There was no damage to the
Diocesan Pastoral Center nor Cathedral buildings. We are grateful that St. Mary
Cathedral school was also spared. There will be much work to rebuild our
community in the days, weeks and months ahead. Your prayers are appreciated.

As a diocese we raised and donated to the Tornado relief in Otsego county over $150,000! Thank you to everyone's generosity to our brothers and sisters in need.

MASS TIME CHANGE -
After Sunday May 26, 2022 the 7 AM Mass will suspended for the foreseeable future. This is because Fr. Michael will be away for two months and Archbishop Russell is beginning is ministry in Detroit. I understand the difficulty this causes. Please be patient with us as we try to do the best we can to provide pastoral care.

Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession
Next Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of Jesus’ Body and Blood in the Eucharist. This year is a special celebration in the United States as our Bishops are encouraging this next year to be focused on reviving and renewing our belief that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist – Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. We will be having a very special Eucharistic Procession following the 11:00 am Mass next Sunday with Archbishop Russell as our celebrant. After the Mass we will go from St. Anne Church to St. Bernard Church along the sidewalk on Chisholm Street with the Blessed Sacrament leading the way.
What will the procession be like? The children who just made First Holy Communion and Confirmation will be following right behind the Monstrance (the large device used to show the Blessed Sacrament). Then the choir will follow leading us in music the whole way (we will have song sheets). Then the rest of the faithful, including all of our liturgical ministers and adorers. Once we arrive at St. Bernard, we will have a short period of silent prayer and then a blessing with Jesus in the Eucharist. We will walk back to the parish hall for a potluck luncheon. Bring a dish to pass if you want. The parish will provide the chicken and the drinks. Even if you attend a different Mass next week, I really encourage you to join us at noon for the procession. Just join in as we come out of the church. How special, too, that it will be Father’s Day. What a great way to honor our fathers by taking them to the Eucharistic procession and luncheon afterwards!

Since the formation of the Diocese of Gaylord in 1971, the Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) has been both an invitation and opportunity to support the programs, services and ministries within our diocese and around the world. Through our collective efforts, the CSA is the primary source of funding for the programs and ministries directed by our bishop, providing support to our parishes as well as most of the special national and international collections typically taken up as second collections in other dioceses.

God is here, right now, at our side. We can see him in the routine moments of our day and in the sacred moments of our lives. To find God, you have only to look.
Every year, parishes are asked to make a just sacrifice through a CSA target that is determined by ordinary income (yearly offertory collections). Any funds received over the parish target are returned to the parish 100% for local needs and good works. This year all the fund received above and beyond are Parish Target will be used to replace the 1952 steam boiler in St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish. The boiler replacement is approximately $55,000.

In the coming weeks you will receive a letter from Bishop Walsh inviting your family to participate in this year's Catholic Service Appeal. You can use the return envelope to make a gift to the Diocese of Gaylord. Gifts can be sent directly to the Diocese of Gaylord
You can also give online. We encourage folks to consider making a reoccurring gift year around.
The Catholic Services Appeal 2022 season is upon us, and we have much to celebrate in northern Michigan. We welcome our new bishop. We begin to enjoy warmer weather, and we honor our risen Lord. We look forward with hope as God continues to work in and through us.
Now is the time to renew our spirits and contemplate our blessings. Now is the ideal moment to recommit our time, talent and treasure to what we value most.
The CSA is a diocesan-wide campaign that supports the mission of the Catholic Church locally, regionally and globally. We are blessed to be part of a Universal Church, unified in the Body of Christ. The work of the Church requires careful stewardship and care. Just like we spend time and resources keeping our bodies healthy, we must do the same to nourish the Body of Christ. The Catholic Services Appeal provides 75% of the Diocese of Gaylord’s annual operational budget and is therefore essential to the work of the Church in northern Michigan.
