My dear parishioners,
This weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. This is a profound opportunity to reflect on the Eucharist. Eucharist is the heart of our liturgy. It’s the center of our worship. It’s where we meet and receive Jesus physically and spiritually. The celebration of the Eucharist is where we receive the precious and wonderful banquet that brings us salvation; and, as Thomas Aquinas says, contains all sweetness.
Jesus wanted us to know and feel how great his love really was for us, to imprint that on our hearts. Here he becomes fully present here in our midst. For those of us who sometimes wonder if he is with us, it is a comfort, a consolation, and an invitation to enter the mystery of his life and his love. I pray we will respond with grateful hearts as we celebrate today.
God bless you all,
Fr Don
