This Sunday is Father's Day, and we also celebrate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). How will you celebrate and honor fathers?
As a young child, I remember seeing the "face of God" reflected on my father's face. We were out shopping at the local market. As we were heading home, we noticed a man sitting on the side of the road with his hand outstretched 'asking' for help. My father without hesitating, reached into the bag of fresh produce we had just bought, and gave much to this man. As he was doing this, my dad's face was shining like the sun (the sun must have been literally shining on him at that moment...) To me, it was the face of God, the Father. I was mesmerized and my heart wanted to burst in song!
From that day forward, my father's example led me to fall in love with the Lord's heart. The Sacred Heart of Jesus and, His Eucharistic Heart (Holy Eucharist) have been my most important sustenance all my life.
God bless all fathers (dads...) and let us continue to hold them up in prayer that they may each fulfill their God-given privilege to raise a child in the ways of the Lord.
We continue to meet in-person on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
