Happy Father’s Day to all our fathers! Let us pray, through the intercession of St. Joseph, that all our fathers may be as holy, just, and wise as Joseph, as they guide their families closer to Jesus.
Today we celebrate the solemnity of the most holy Body and Blood of Christ, known in popular Latin words the Corpus Christi (Body of Christ). We acknowledge and affirm our undying belief that the bread and wine consecrated at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass ceases as bread and wine and truly, really, substantially becomes Jesus, His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. Our Lord makes himself food for us in Holy Communion, for he is the Bread of Life come down from heaven who gives us eternal life.
Today is also the launch of a three-year National Eucharistic Revival by the U.S. Bishops. As the bishops release catechetical tools over the next three years, we invite you to rediscover the beauty of the Most Holy Eucharist. Incidentally, the theme of the revival is: “Behold, I make all things NEW.” When we receive Holy Communion, we are indeed, made new.
To all our fathers, near or far, living or deceased, and especially for the fathers here in our Parish, we extend greetings for a very Happy Father’s Day!
