Friends,
I hope you had a great Father's Day yesterday but, most of all, a blessed Solemnity of The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Let us never take for granted the immense beauty and mystery of God's love for us made present in Jesus' Body and Blood in the Eucharist!
I liked this quote from him: “Those who receive the Body and Blood of Christ with faith not only 'eat', but are 'satisfied'. To eat and to be satisfied: these are two basic necessities that are satisfied in the Eucharist.”
Today marks the celebration of Juneteenth even though it's usually commemorated on June, 19th. This holiday celebrates the June 19th, 1865 when Texas announced the abolition of slavery which led to the emancipation of African American slaves throughout the Confederate South. The end of the horror of slavery in our country is a truly something to celebrate and remember. Let us pray for an end to all forms of slavery and racial injustice in our communities and country.
I'll be away next weekend with my family for a reunion. It'll be the first time since Thanksgiving of 2019 that we'll all be together. Please welcome our guest priest from Cross Catholic Outreach who will be sharing about their important missionary work throughout the poorest countries in the world.
AMDG,
Fr. Stephen
