Change in Clergy
Dear Parishioners,
I’d like to share again some news about our clergy staffing at St. Bonaventure. Fr. Arturo Cardenas will be moving to become temporary Parochial Administrator of St. Francis of Assisi parish here in Concord on July 16th. He is needed there
because the Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi, Fr. Ismael Gutierrez, will be taking a sabbatical (much needed… good for him!). We will be getting a ‘newly-minted’ priest, Fr. Ramon Urbina, to replace Fr. Arturo.
Fr. Urbina was just ordained a priest of our diocese. He is a native of Antioch, CA, and also, by happenstance, is the brother-in-law of Jacob Perry, our Youth Ministry Coordinator. We look forward to welcoming Fr. Ramon to St. Bonaventure on July 1, 2022.
We have all grown to know and love Fr. Arturo. He has been a wonderful priest for us all. We will miss him. We are going to celebrate Fr. Arturo’s farewell on his departure day – July 15, 2022 – with a parish BBQ as we also celebrate the feast day of St. Bonaventure, our patron saint. Please mark your calendar for the festivities here the evening of July 15th as we celebrate our parish feast day and bid a fond farewell to Fr. Arturo!

Father Cyrus Gallagher is a Capuchin Franciscan friar living in Colorado. He has served as a high school teacher, diocesan director of marriage and family life, retreat master, vocation director and the director of religious formation for his Capuchin community. Spending time in the Capuchin mission in Papua New Guinea, Father Gallagher taught English as a second language. In addition to his preaching for Unbound, he currently serves as confessor in the Catholic chapel at the Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs.

July First Friday 24 Hour Adoration
The First Friday 24 Hours of Eucharistic Adoration for July will take place Friday, July 1. We ask that you please sign up to spend some time with our Lord as the Blessed Sacrament cannot be left alone. We especially need coverage during the overnight hours. Healing the Heart
Healing the Heart is a Grief Support Group at St Bonaventure’s Community.
It is a 6-week program characterized by trust, prayer, open sharing, and ritual.
Anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one, whether recent or past, can join us. Grieving has no time limit. If you want to be part of Healing the Heart, you are welcome. Anyone in the community is encouraged to join us, you don’t have to have a religious affiliation.
The next workshop begins August 2 and goes to September 6, 2022, registration is required. The time will be from 11:00am to 12:30pm at St Bonaventure’s Catholic Church. You can register by sending an email to Helene Billeci at: fuzyfrank@aol.com Or call 925-681-8105 and leave a message.

Annual Parish Family Camping at Tahoe - 2022
The dates are set for the annual parish family camping trip: Sunday, August 7th through Sunday, August 14th, Sugar Pine Point State Park, Lake Tahoe. The cost will be $140 for the week. Plan your vacation week and come join us. Come for a few days or the entire week and relax with the family. St. Bonaventure Bridge Group
St. Bonaventure Bridge Group is looking for new members for its 2022-2023 marathon year. Grab a partner and join this fun group for a monthly game of bridge between September and May.
Games are arranged between two teams at the player’s convenience. The year-end party in June awards cash prizes and a donation to the St. Bonaventure Food Pantry. Please call Sheryl Caskey to sign up at 925-672-4087.

St. Bonaventure CYO Assistant Basketball
Athletic Director
St. Bonaventure is looking for an Assistant CYO Basketball Athletic Director to eventually take over as senior Athletic Director.
The Oakland Diocese Catholic Youth Organization is a church-sponsored athletic program for elementary and junior high age youth from the parishes of the Catholic Diocese of Oakland. CYO Sports are offered by the Church as a ministry to young people.
CYO sponsors a variety of sports: girls' and boys' basketball, girls' volleyball, girls' and boys' track & field, girls' and boys' cross country, girls' softball, boys' sand volleyball and cheerleading. Teams are offered for children in third through eighth grades.
"The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), through the vehicle of sports, provides youth with an opportunity to practice Christian attitudes and responsibilities and to become friends with other children throughout the diocese. CYO activities should be examples of the meaning of Christian sportsmanship." --CYO Code of Conduct
For the 2022 Season, the senior Athletic Director will be preparing the Assistant Athletic Director to take over the Basketball Program for 2023.

Adoration & Friday Holy Hour
We offer Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament after 9:00am Mass in the Chapel. Monday through Thursday, Adoration continues for one hour after Mass. Friday Adoration continues until 3:00pm. The Friday Holy Hour beginning at 2:00pm includes the Rosary, the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and concludes with Benediction at 3:00pm.

STAYING CONNECTED
Sacraments, Pastoral Counseling, and Staff Support
We're here for you! Our clergy and pastoral staff are available to help. We can offer pastoral counseling by appointment, over the phone or by videocall, and the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is available in person when needed. Please call the parish office at (925) 672-5800 to make an appointment. We offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the church on Saturdays at 3:30pm.
The office is open for walk-up visits, Monday-Thursday 8:30am-4:30pm (closed for lunch 1-1:30pm), and Friday 8:30am-12:30pm. Staff are also available by appointment. Please call the main office number or call or email the staff person directly.

The St. Bonaventure Food Pantry is open Tuesdays from 8:30-10:00am in the parish parking lot. See our website for more information. (Note: The Food Pantry thanks you for your continuing donations of food and other items, but is no longer requesting bags -- they have a sufficient supply.)
