Happy Father's Day!
Today we celebrate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Like every Sunday, we repeat the celebration that forges our identity and strengthens us to be the very body of Christ that we receive. Celebrating the Body and Blood of Christ always calls us to do what he commanded: to share our lives as he did. The gift we receive and celebrate is the very center and heart of our church, the center and heart of our faith and our lives. So too, it must be the center and heart of our parish life. As we leave Mass today, having received Christ’s body and blood, let us pray for our parish and ourselves to be more and more Christ-like in all that we say and do.
FATHER’S DAY PRAYER OF BLESSING
God our Father, in your wisdom and love you made all things. Bless our fathers, that they may be strengthened as Christian fathers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect. Grant this through Christ our Lord.
