Social Justice Movie
Almost two years ago, Fr Colin formed the St Anne Combatting Racism Task Force to Combat Racism. The Task Force was asked to brainstorm and make recommendations to the school and parish on what our community can do to help in the effort to combat racism.
One of those recommendations was to promote the understanding of Catholic Social Teachings at the school and parish.
The teachings of Solidarity, Call to Family, Community and Participation, and Rights and Responsibilities direct us to commit oneself to the common good and provide strong, actionable examples of how we are to love our neighbor.
As we all know, the Catholic Church has stumbled on these issues at times throughout its past and even recent history. We can gain insight into current events by better understanding this fraught history. Join us this Sunday at 11:30 in the Assembly room to watch White Supremacy and American Christianity. We will have a discussion of the film afterwards.
New Grief Support Group
Good God, Good Grief is a 4-week support group located at St Anne House of Prayer.
This group is for those who have lost a loved one since January 2020 due to Covid-19, or otherwise.
Facilitated by Jane Fleming, MPM
Saturdays, July 9th, 16th, 30th and August 6th.
11:00 am to 1:00 pm
Many of us have lost loved ones during the last 2½ years during the Covid-19 pandemic. We endured isolation and loneliness in this time and are just now beginning to emerge back into community, but without significant people in our lives.
Times of loss can test or strengthen our faith and can also lead to personal growth and resilience.
This support group will provide a place to process losses through listening, prayer and sharing.
Registration is limited to 12.
St Francis House
St. Francis House has an amazing new space and needs your help! Please help them fill their new space with gently used clothing, shoes, backpacks, household items (linens, dishware, small appliances, etc.), toiletries and diapers. Donations can be dropped off at our new space at 169 12th Avenue beginning July 25th, Mondays through Thursdays from 10am to 2pm. There are two parking spaces on 12th Avenue in front of the building reserved for donor drop offs.
We are also in need of volunteer help on our Monday through Thursday schedule from 10am to 2pm each of those days. It really helps if volunteers can commit to a specific day of the week (for most weeks) as this really helps in scheduling. The typical volunteer roles are:
Shopping room support
Client intake
Hospitality
Sorting/organizing donations
If interested, please contact St. Francis House by calling 206-621-0945. Please leave a message with your contact information. You may also email info@stfrancishouseseattle.org
