Meet our New Permanent Deacon
Born in California, Michael J. Sorensen has lived in the Kenner/Metairie area since he was seven years old. He is one of four children and has been married to his wife Kim for 38 years. They have three daughters, Megan, Kortney and Mikella, and four grandchildren. Mike and his family have been members of St. Benilde Parish for 37 years where Mike has been serving in recent years as an acolyte. Mike is a graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School, an electrical contractor for 35 years, and now the facilities director at Chapelle High School.
Mike has long felt called to a life of service, and now God is leading him to serve him more fully through the permanent diaconate. Mike will be ordained on Saturday, June 25, 2022 after which he will officially begin is ordained ministry here at St. Benilde Church. Please join us in praying for both Deacon Mike and Kim, thanking God for their generous yes to this new chapter of service.
“Whoever serves, let it be with the strength that God supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.”
