Canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012, Saint Kateri of Tekakwitha became the first Native American to be recognized as a Saint by the Church. "Kateri astounded the Jesuits with her deep spirituality and her devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. She took a private vow of virginity and devoted herself to teaching prayers to the children and helping the sick and elderly of Caughnawaga." This year, the Archdiocese faced a very uncomfortable shortage of priests to staff our various parishes. For example, Ponca City had long had two priests in service there, but now only one. The entire panhandle of Oklahoma is currently being served by just two priests. Here, at St. Eugene, we had three priests, but now we have two. And we share our Associate, Fr. Krug, with Mt. St. Mary High School.

Our next meeting on Sunday July 17th will be held at Johnnie's on Britton Road starting at 6pm. This is an "open" meeting where spouses, friends, and non-members are welcome to join us for an opportunity to meet the Knights.

In July there will be enrollment in the Ross Hall Gathering Area after 5:00pm Saturday Mass and after the 12 Noon Mass.  Other times by appointment. Click here for online registration. Classes begin on Monday, August 22 and Wednesday, August 24. Deadline for enrollment is August 10.

The enrollment form is the regular RE form. At a later date a Parent Meeting will be held to hand out the Sponsor Form. Please include the Baptism Certificate and Birth Certificate of the student. Deadline for enrollment is August 10th.

Once again we can offer this beautiful catechesis for our children! After the Opening Prayer the children ages 4-Grade 1 are called forward to receive a special blessing and then sent with a Catechist to "Break Open the Word" on their learning level. They return to the church after the homily. Lots of Catechists are needed to offer this at all the Masses. It is an amazing ministry worth investigating!
