Upon This Rock

t’s Not “Goodbye”, It is “See You Around!” – Since December 2015 Mary Doyle has been in the parish office at St. Peter serving as a receptionist, administrative assistant and, most recently, data manager. Mary’s professional skills and hospitable personality have been invaluable assets to us. We’re sad that we will not see her every day in the office, but happy that she’ll remain an active part of the parish family. Thank you, Mary, for your years of devoted service! We know your new venture will benefit greatly from your talents!
Upon This Crushed Rock and Asphalt – We’re in the home stretch of the project to replace the church’s parking lot. We have experienced a slight delay but still anticipate completing the project by early August. Thanks for your patience. The improved foundational layer of crushed rock and clean new surface will serve us better for years to come. This endeavor has a price tag of nearly $270,000. More than half of the cost was met by the generosity of parish organizations and a grant from the ACA. The rest was covered by YOU, the good parishioners of St. Peter! As of this writing, gifts to cover the remainder of the project have totaled $80,146! Three cheers to everyone who pitched in! “I Was Homeless, and You Gave Me Shelter” – Room at the Inn is a local organization that works to provide shelter for women, children, and families who are homeless. Their purpose is to help these families get into a home of their own, and equip them with the tools needed to prevent them from becoming homeless again. Room at the Inn recently acknowledged St. Peter Church’s 26 years of support of opening up our facilities once a month for their needs. Pandemic circumstances have altered their arrangements with host sites. For the present time, St. Peter is not a host site, but we stand ready to continue our assistance to their important service.
Returning This Fall – Some ministries at St. Peter got suspended due to the pandemic and have been waiting to get back in action. Two that will return with the new school year are the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and the Children’s Sunday Liturgy of the Word. Both in their own ways bring children closer to Jesus and the understanding of our Catholic faith. We’re working to create a functional and welcoming space in a room of the church’s lower level to hold these programs. Look for more information about these ministries in the weeks ahead and find out how you can get involved.
Connect with Each Other and Our Ministries – Our new Directory Guide Book has been mailed to all registered parishioners. This is a great resource to use when you need to connect with a fellow parishioner or would like to browse through the list of our many ministries and organizations to find where you can share your gifts! While we make every effort to keep our records current, we only know what you tell us.
