Parish Update -- July 23, 2023
Dear everyone:
*Important*
Navigating to Church -- Yesterday and today, there's been work installing a few art projects at a few of the intersections along University Drive. Incidentally, the intersection at Nash and University is closed, and so is the intersection at Camp and University. Originally, they were scheduled to be completed and able to be driven on by this evening at schedule. I've been told there is some delay and those intersection may still be closed tomorrow morning. The good news is we are still having Mass and there are few ways you can still navigate to St. Joseph. First, is by entering from 182/Martin Luther King Blvd and head south on N. Nash, where you can enter the church property from behind Coconuts. If you would like to use the main entrance of the Church, the best route is probably from Russell St. to Colonel Muldrow, head north, then turn left onto University.
Our Sympathy to Greg and Carrie Olsen, our former parishioners, Greg's father, Harry Olsen, died this past Sunday. The funeral was this morning in Columbus.
Homework was this past week. Several of our youth participated in many service projects throughout the week, including Habitat for Humanity, our Food Pantry, and several others. I'm attaching a few photos from a cleanup they did at the Catholic cemetery in Macon, MS.
Donut Sunday Volunteers needed -- We've got to have some folks to volunteer to help pick up the donuts and set them up and make coffee for our monthly donut Sunday. Please let me know if you are willing to volunteer to help with this important program.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd -- Catechists are returning for Round 2 of training next weekend at St. Joseph. We are very grateful for those of you who have graciously volunteered to help. Thanks to all of you who have given so generously to this project for the children and future children of our parish. I believe there will be a call out for volunteers to help provide food for those days.
Peace,
Fr. Jason
