You don't want to miss Lourdes and Fatima for World Youth Day 2023!
Over a million young Catholics will gather in Lisbon, Portugal next summer for World Youth Day. Though the title indicates a “day,” it is really a week-long life-changing experience of the diversity and richness of the Catholic Church. Our diocese is forming a group of pilgrims to journey to Portugal in 2023 - and you could be one of them! For World Youth Day 2023, the Diocese is sponsoring two options:
- CORE PILGRIMAGE: July 28-August 7, 2023. The core pilgrimage that includes a day and a half at the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima followed by full participation in the World Youth Day festivities. This option is estimated to cost roughly $4,000 per person.
- EXTENDED PILGRIMAGE: July 24-August 7, 2023. An extended pilgrimage that starts with visits to the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes as well as the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela. This option also includes the entire core pilgrimage to Fatima and World Youth Day. This option is estimated to cost roughly $5,000 per person.
This pilgrimage is open to youth (ages 16-18 and in or graduating high school in 2023) and their adult chaperones as well as to young adults (ages 18-35 and at least a full year out of high school).

Why? The Jesse Tree Committee will be collecting “stocking stuffers” in a “chimney” in the Commons. Items collected now will help fill the stockings this Christmas for children from infants through age 8.

The Ladies of the Altar
are in need of parishioners to assist in caring for the Sanctuary.
We meet every other Monday for approximately 60 to 90 minutes to clean, dust, vacuum, change the altar linens and any necessary work to keep the sanctuary a sacred space worthy to celebrate the holy sacrifice of the Mass.
Please prayerfully consider this beautiful ministry.

Our Lady of Lourdes Circle would like to thank all parishioners who donated to our recent Housewarming Shower for the Miriam's House - your generosity helped to make this project a great success.

2021 Jesse Tree Ministry
Elves Delivered! This past week Jesse Tree gifts, food, and even stockings for the younger children, were distributed to 77 households in our area. Families came from our parish community, as well as those referred to us by Interfaith Outreach Association, Lynchburg Social Services, Miriam’s House and McGurk House.
Thanks: Many thanks to all those who made the 2021 Jesse Tree Ministry a success!
We will resume distributing the monthly bags in the Commons the first weekend in February.
