Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Reading 1 – Ecc 1:2; 2:21-23

Reflection

“Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions.” (Luke 12:15) The Gospel message is contrary to modern culture that continually tries to convince us that our joy comes from the material things we possess. That the more we acquire, the happier we will be. Jesus shows us that our true joy comes from our “invisible” gifts like love, mercy and forgiveness. True joy comes from “emptying” ourselves, giving of ourselves rather than always taking. We are called not to hoard but to share. True joy comes from living a grateful and generous lifestyle; become more “God-centered” and less “self-centered.”

Eucharistic Revival

The last three weekends Kai and Libby have been helping us better understand the great sacrament of the Eucharist through their videos from Catholic central. This weekend, let us think of the way in which we should receive the Eucharist. The Church officially teaches us two ways and one is not better than the other; however, on the tongue or in our hands, communion must be received with reverence and love for Jesus.

When you train to become a Laudato Si’ Animator, you’ll be joining a global movement of tens of thousands of people committed to prayer and action for our common home. This leadership development training will equip you with the skills you need to lead your community in urgent climate action. It's our time to lead

Starting on August 24, 2022, each week for four weeks, there will be a 1.5 hour webinar with expert speakers. And in the fifth and sixth week, Animators devote time to completing an action, whether regarding ecological prayer, sustainability, or advocacy, to become a certified Laudato Si Animator.

This is a free, online training. If you would like to be part of this cohort of Laudato Si Animators, please register your interest at laudatosianimators.org in that way we will let you know as soon as registrations are open.
