18th Sunday in Ordinary Time
As so often happens, Jesus tells a parable because someone has asked him a question. A man wants him to settle a squabble about an inheritance, but Jesus will have no part of it.
Concern about money prevents people from focusing on the Kingdom of God. The Parable of the Rich Farmer shows how foolish it is to keep piling up possessions. Right when the greedy man is gorging himself on food and drink, he dies. Death prevents any chance of reform.
How important is making money? Jesus knows that we all need enough to live on. Each person's need will be a little bit different. Each family's needs will be a little bit different. But Jesus warns here against piling up money and ignoring what really makes us rich—love of God and love of others.

Monday Rosary Group
Bring your whole family and join us every Monday evening as we pray the Rosary at 6:30pm.
What is Christian Family Movement (CFM)?
- Christian Family Movement is a network of parish family groups who meet to discuss issues of relevance to today's Christian families.
When does CFM meet?
- Members of CFM are assigned to small groups of 5-8 couples (or individuals) who meet once a month. Social and service activities involving all the individual CFM groups are also held over the course of the year which may include the whole family.
Who can join CFM?
- CFM is for adult couples or individuals who wish to participate in a regular, dynamic dialogue with other Christians to discuss the challenges of faith and action we all face in everyday life. It is a perfect place for interfaith couples to share their common Christian values.
Queen of the Holy Rosary has four CFM groups, two are the young families groups and two are more "mature". Come join or at least ask about it! We're looking to grow and add more groups to our amazing parish. For more information, contact Deacon Tom at Deacontom@qhrwea.org.
Time to VOTE!!!!
Without the Value Them Both Amendment unlimited abortion will come to Kansas. Our legislature will no longer be able to hold the abortion industry accountable, just like we’ve seen in states like New York and Illinois.
With our voices and our vote we will let it be known that Kansas values both women and our unborn children.
Deacon Tom Update.....I want to thank all of you for your prayers and offers of support this past week. Last weekend I had a series of possible transient ischaemic attacks (TIA) or "mini-strokes". At least that's what the docs have settled on. I spent a couple of days in the hospital having a whole raft of tests (along with meals of hospital food). They discovered that I have a brain AND a heart!
The good news is that everything, I mean EVERYTHING, checked out fine. The bad news is that they don't really know what happened. No issues since last weekend. The best my doctor could come up with is "well, when you get a bit older....."
That made me feel so much better - yeah, right! I guess I'll be around a while longer.
