Dear Parishioner:
After three years without it because of the coronavirus pandemic, we are organizing our eighth 40 Hours of Eucharistic Devotion here at St. John Paul II Parish. The schedule is as follows in St. Mary Church:
Sunday, August 21st, 5:30 PM: After ‘Eventide’, the Blessed Sacrament remains on the altar for Adoration through the evening, during the night and into the morning.
Monday, August 22nd, 8:30 AM: Adoration is suspended for the 9:00 AM Mass, and then resumes after Mass through the day, evening, night and into the morning.
Tuesday, August 23rd, 8:30 AM: Adoration is suspended for the 9:00 AM Mass, and then resumes after Mass until 5:30 PM, when Adoration closes with Benediction, followed by a 6:00 PM Mass to close the 40 Hours Devotion.
The following is addressed to leaders of ministries and apostolic groups. Your group can schedule an hour of Adoration to pray as a group for its mission, for its members’ needs and intentions and so on. You can do this using prayers specific to your group. You could also bring flowers, for example, from a member’s garden, to put in front of the altar to give homage to our Lord.
To reserve an hour or half hour for yourself, or an hour for your group, please contact Marilyn Berthiaume at 508.320.7543 or bsmitty74@charter.net. For groups, we will reserve hours on a first come, first served basis. This revival of the 40 Hours Devotion is a wonderful way to answer the U.S. Bishops’ call for Eucharistic renewal over the next three years, and thus the renewal of our parish to be bound together more closely in Christ. Thank you for your commitment to our faith community through presence, prayer and ministry. Hope to see you at the 40 Hours.
In Christ,
Father Ken Cardinale
Pastor
