Summer Reading: "Don Quixote"
A Great Catholic Novel
Mark your calendar for next Tuesday evening! Even if you haven't yet read it, this lecture may entice you to spend the last few weeks of summer diving into this masterpiece.
"Don Quixote" presented by John Niemann
Tuesday, August 9th, at 7pm
Sts. Peter & Paul Room
Miguel Cervantes’ masterpiece "Don Quixote" is a classic of the Western world. Like most of our classics, it has been misunderstood and appropriated by the modern age. The titular character is more than just the man from La Mancha dreaming the impossible dream. Rather, he is a man of faith and virtue passing through a declining Christendom with only vestiges of either. Like many of the saints, he was a man out of time, and man for all time.
Join us on Tuesday, August 9th, as we take back an important part of our literary heritage by reading "Don Quixote" in light of the faith and its important historical context.
John Niemann has been an educator for over 20 years, working as a teacher and administrator at Chesterton Academy, Eagle Ridge Academy, and Trinity School.
