Social Concerns Collection This Month
The social concerns collection for this month is for the Local Needy in our area. Historically, the August Social Concerns Collection has always been for the Local Needy, which is critical now as the poor are the most greatly impacted by the increasing cost of energy, affecting food prices, transportation prices and every aspect of their lives.
Remember Those Who Have Died
Please remember in your prayers, those who have died, especially Roni Calingo. Their families have our parish community’s deepest sympathies.
St. Elizabeth's Outreach to SOME on Saturday, August 13
Since September 1978, St. Elizabeth has provided meals to So Others Might Eat in Washington, D.C. on the second Saturday of every month. We can always use donors -- this can be done on an occasional or regular basis -- to support this longstanding parish service. (So far this year new donors have helped us to deliver a very generous amount of food.) Our next parish outreach to "SOME" will be on Saturday, August 13.
- St. Elizabeth will only drop off its food donations at SOME, i.e., we will not remain at SOME (as we did prior to COVID) to help prepare the food for serving the clients.
- Chicken is still the primary food donation provided in the form of "boxed chicken" (e.g., Banquet brand boxes) and rotisserie chicken.
- Oranges and bananas are also needed.
Food donations for SOME will be collected in St. Elizabeth's parking lot in front of the school between 8:30 and 9:30 AM next Saturday morning, August 13. SOME management and staff continue to remind us of how much they appreciate St. Elizabeth's generous and very reliable monthly support. Please contact Brian Crowe (
brian.crowe1@verizon.net) if you have any questions on this important parish activity.
