"Catch a Thought
by its Tail."
This piece of art by Sr Leanne Mary Hubbart, SND - shows one of the 'rules of discernment' written down by Ignatius and such practical advice for really anybody. Pay attention to our Train of Thought, if it is good and consoling from beginning to end, it is indeed a train of though to be appreciated but if our train of thought ends in emptiness, darkness or desolation, we need to pay attention not to get caught into a downward move and since as Ignatius write, it could well be the art of the Evil Spirit.
In this week with the afterglow of the celebrations around Ignatius don't forget: Would like to do a retreat? Would like to begin to take your spiritual life more serious in this coming year? Would like to get into spiritual direction? contact Julia at islc@saintagnessf.org
Peace and Blessing upon all of us in these summer days, Julia
Wondered what happened to all our synodal work here at ISLC? Well, we went through hundreds of pages of notes from the meetings at ISLC in June and then came together with the notes from USF and SI Prep and the survey results from San Quentin and wrote a compelling (in our opinion) synthesis. That went directly to the USCCB (in June) and to Nathalie Beckart at the secretariat (in July). Both confirmed that the document will be taken into account into the further writing of the synthesis and the presentations. If anybody is interested in reading our synthesis, please come to the parish office. We have a couple of print outs available for onsite reading and studying. It is VERY worth while.
Again thank you for your participation. And grateful to God for having given us enough strength to go through with this work over the last months.
May GOD end the good work God begun!!!
Spiritual Directors Meeting tomorrow Thursday August 4, 2022 at ISLC 6:30pm - 8:00pm!!
Joe Spieler, SJ is offering to us some thoughts on how 'moving, being on the move, and the movement of holding and letting go' is so essential to our spiritual life and our art as Spiritual Directors.
ALL Spiritual Directors connected with ISLC are invited. Please, come for a conversation and a cup of tea or a glass of wine.
