A note from our Pastor:
Here we are at the end of the 1st week of August. This beautiful summer seems to have flown by. I hope that we have all had some opportunities to enjoy the wonderful weather and our spectacular array of outdoor activities.
Brothers and sisters: Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen.
Paul’s definition of faith never fails to move me. Our faith helps us to realize what is important in the face of all the contradictory messages we receive. Advertising, the news, even our pastimes like baseball & football give us subtle messages that we must be aware of so that we can fight their influence. I don’t want to go on an Andy Rooney rant, but I do remember a time when you watched sports on TV and there were not sponsors names and logos on the walls and in every shot. There were not constant ribbons going by on the screen telling us about products or other offerings of whatever network you’re watching. Make no mistake all those messages are telling us we don’t have enough – we aren’t secure enough – we aren’t pretty enough –we need more, more, MORE!!!
This message is one of the things Jesus is talking about when he tells us to be vigilant while we await the Master’s return. There are countless distractions for us to choose from if we allow ourselves to do so. Our faith – our realization of things not seen – calls us out – out into the world to feed the hungry, minister to the sick, visit the imprisoned – all things Christ would do, we must do. May we joyfully go out and let our faith be know by how we treat others – by our charity and our compassion.
Peace & God Bless!
Father Rob
