Hello Everyone!! This flocknote is being sent out a day early so that everyone is aware of St. Clare's Feast Day on Thursday, August 11th. We are really excited to be able to celebrate with everyone. There will also be an Open House taking place at school, so please stop by and show support for our Teacher's & Staff that are excited for a new school year. Please be sure to view the message of gratitude from Alyssa, our youth minister, at the bottom of the flocknote. And with that, let's start with a prayer:
Light of the World Prayer
Creator God,
thank you that you are the light of the world,
guiding my steps on your path.
Help me to recognize every student I teach as your precious child.
May you guide me into the most helpful words
and actions with your wisdom.
Hear my prayer Lord,
and help me to teach effectively.
May you, the God of all grace,
who has called me into eternal glory by Christ Jesus,
make me holy, strong and filled with peace.
To you be glory and honor,
forever and ever.
In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
Amen.

On August 15, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Assumption, a Holy Day of Obligation. On November 1, 1950, Pius XII defined the dogma of the Assumption. Thus he solemnly proclaimed that the belief whereby the Blessed Virgin Mary, at the close of her earthly life, was taken up, body and soul, into the glory of heaven, definitively forms part of the deposit of faith, received from the Apostles. To avoid all that is uncertain the Pope did not state either the manner or the circumstances of time and place in which the Assumption took place—only the fact of the Assumption of Mary, body and soul, into the glory of heaven, is the matter of the definition.

Dear St. Clare of Assisi Parish,
I wanted to share an update that pertains to the Youth Ministry program at St. Clare and a message of gratitude to you all as my parish family.
Over the past four years, our Life Teen program has aimed to walk with our young people and encourage them to grow in relationship with Jesus, fall in love with the Sacraments, and follow wherever He may be calling.
In my own life, I have felt a strong pursuit from the Lord to be open to the possibility of making a move, which has become clearer and stronger over the past month or so. In an effort to respond to where God is inviting me, I will be stepping down as Youth Minister at St. Clare in August. While I am excited about the new direction in which I'm being led, the decision came through many tears and considerations of our teens and the beautiful parish community that has so welcomed and supported us over these past years.
My last day at the parish will be Wednesday, August 17th. We do not yet have details worked out as to what leadership of the Life Teen and Edge programs will look like moving forward, but I can assure you that our events will still take place, and our teens will continue to be loved and accompanied by our amazing core team of volunteers. Fr. Yates and Fr. Andrew are both supportive of youth ministry, and they will be making the leadership of the youth ministry program a priority.
If I could ask for your prayers with my next steps... I will be staying in St. Louis and joining an organization called the
John Paul II Healing Center, whose mission is
Transformation in the Heart of the Church. They host healing retreats all throughout the country for various populations within the Church: lay people, couples, priests, bishops, religious, seminarians, etc. I have much to learn, and I am hopeful about what the future has in store for both myself and the teens of our parish.
I can't fully express what these past years have meant to me personally, professionally, and vocationally. The love poured out on everyone who walks through the doors of our Church is truly special, and it has been the gift of a lifetime to be a recipient of such support and hospitality. Please know I will keep you all in my prayers as I head into my next adventure.
Sincerely in Christ,
Alyssa Norberg
