19th Sunday in Ordinary Time
One way Christians can prove that they are a people of faith is to live every day as though they expect Jesus to return. Today's Gospel urges us to be awake and on the watch like servants awaiting the master's return home. We should be "on guard" against anyone or anything that leads us astray from Christ. Since no one knows when the final judgment will happen, the wise person will always be prepared for it.
If you read this Gospel again carefully, you will discover that Jesus is comparing himself to a thief! Just as we would "watch out" for a thief, so we must "watch out" for the coming of the Lord. One saint said of Jesus: "He steals our hearts!" However, we must be clear: Jesus always respects our freedom. We can say yes or no when he comes. The question is: When Jesus comes, will you want to keep your door closed, or open it up wide? Are you going to wait until the end of time to welcome Jesus, or can you begin today?

Beginning in October, we offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of the Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. You are welcome to participate in the RCIA process with your questions, insights, and faith. What is Christian Family Movement (CFM)?
- Christian Family Movement is a network of parish family groups who meet to discuss issues of relevance to today's Christian families.
When does CFM meet?
- Members of CFM are assigned to small groups of 5-8 couples (or individuals) who meet once a month. Social and service activities involving all the individual CFM groups are also held over the course of the year which may include the whole family.
Who can join CFM?
- CFM is for adult couples or individuals who wish to participate in a regular, dynamic dialogue with other Christians to discuss the challenges of faith and action we all face in everyday life. It is a perfect place for interfaith couples to share their common Christian values.
Queen of the Holy Rosary has four CFM groups, two are the young families groups and two are more "mature". Come join or at least ask about it! We're looking to grow and add more groups to our amazing parish. For more information, contact Deacon Tom at Deacontom@qhrwea.org.
