Updated Summer Reading List
1. "Jesus Shock" by Peter Kreeft. Jesus was radical in His time. He continues to be radical even today. Jesus requires our radical and active life in Him. Discover what it means to live a radical life in service and radical love, as Jesus taught.
2. "Coming Soon--Unlocking the Book of Revelation" by Dr. Michael Barber. If you've ever thought that the Book of Revelation was just too difficult to understand and all it's symbolism confusing, this book is for you. Dr. Barber has written a very readable and understandable book regarding the mostly unknown and, largely, unread last book of the Bible. He helps "connect the dots" regarding events leading to the second coming of Christ.
3. "Life of Christ" by Ven. Archbishop Fulton Sheen. I'm not sure which came first, this book or his TV show, Life is Worth Living, but this book is a classic. Next to the Family Bible and the catechism, this book should not just be in every home, but should be read by every Catholic.

The author very clearly points out that "screen addition" is real and dangerous to our children. Praise, Worship, and Healing Zoom Meeting
All parishioners and friends of St. Francis are invited to participate in a virtual Praise, Worship, and Healing service via Zoom. We all are in need of prayer; whether it's for a family member, friend, or ourselves, and we're all in need of healing. Intercessory prayers we pray every day, but this virtual session is all about having an encounter with Jesus. Jesus, during His lifetime and ministry, healed everyone and He still does today!!! Let us all be like blind Bartimaeus and be ready to answer when Jesus asks us, "What do you want Me to do for you?" (Mark 10:46-52) Every 3rd Wednesday of each month @ 7;00pm , this service will be conducted by recent graduates of the Encounter School of Ministry, two of whom are from St. Francis. This service is all about how the Holy Spirit is working in our lives and leading us ever closer to Jesus Christ.

Online Prayer Requests
Did you know you can submit your prayer requests online? If people only put their prayer intentions in the book in the church, those needs will sit for a week before being added to the prayer list. The online requests are added and sent out as soon as they're received and the prayer ministry begins praying for those intentions. So...DON'T WAIT!!! We will begin Wednesday the 22nd of September at 6pm! "That Man Is You!" Is an engaging program for fathers, veterans, working, and retired men and every man in between. Once a week, men will enjoy a meal, watch a video, and have small group discussions.

Parents Meeting for Religious Education
Reminder that the Parents Informational Meeting will be on August 14 at 9:45 am in Marian Hall. If you have not filled out Registration forms yet you will have the opportunity to fill them out at the meeting.
Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus are pleased to announce the start of this year's Catholic Citizenship Essay Contes, which is open to all Catholic children enrolled this fall in Grades 8 through12. Entry forms will be available from the Religious Education Directors Office ( See Gloria or Maria) for Youth Formation. Parent's signed permission is required on the entry form. There will be one winner for each grade level from 8 through 12. Rules and how the entries are judged are on the back of the form. Contest essays (500-750 words) must be typed and received in the Knights of Columbus mailbox in the Administration Office reception room not later than September 30, 2022. The essays must be accompanied by the completed entry form in a sealed letter size envelope marked Catholic Essay Contest- do not place any return address or contestant information on the outside of the envelope. Entries are not returnable, so keep a copy for yourselves. Each grade level winner will be eligible for a monetary prize at the local level. The winning entries will then be sent on for higher level contest at District, State, National, and international contest levels. Mexican Breakfast
The Mexican Breakfast will be on August 28 from 8am to 2pm Tickets are already tickets available in the office. The cost per ticket is $10. Tickets will be available for purchase after Mass on August 13 and 14, 20 and 21.
Motorcycle Ride and Retreat
Who's up for a motorcycle ride and retreat? It's a combination of a motorcycle ride with spiritual talks to ponder on the ride. The ride is scheduled for Monday, August 15 (weather permitting). Meet at St. Francis at 10:00 (Room 5). Park your bike in the lower parking lot in front of the office. We will return around 4:00 in the afternoon. Ride at your own risk. We follow all traffic rules and speed limits and will cancel if the weather is bad. Contact colleenorchanian@gmail.com for more information.
St. Clare's Memorial Garden
We are repairing the walkway in St. Clare's Memorial Garden. The current stone path is breaking apart making the walkway unsafe. To help with the expense, we are sponsoring a "Buy a Brick Program.” You may purchase a permanent, commemorative, brick for the walkway to remember your loved ones. Each brick will be engraved with the message you choose. Each brick is 12" X 12" and will cost $500. For more information, please contact the parish office.
Moms Life and Spirituality Group: Rescheduled
Due to illness, the Moms Life and Spirituality group meeting has been changed to the 22nd of this month same time and place. (6pm in classroom 6) The next meeting will be on the 3rd Monday of the Month . The group will discuss children, family issues, and how to live spiritually and continue to grow in faith. They will also be discussing "Searching for and Maintaining Peace" by Jacques Philippe Child care will be provided. Please contact the Adult Formation office for more info.

Hall of Fame
The Saints that we honor and ask intercession from are the Catholic Church's Hall of Fame. They are proof for us that every Saint had a past, and every sinner has a future. If you have a favorite photo, painting, icon of your patron saint and would like to donate it to St Francis, we are creating a "Hall" of Fame in the administration building. Pictures should not exceed 9 x 12 inches in total size, including a frame. Pictures may be delivered to the Adult Faith Formation office.
Fall Festival
Well, Folks, It’s that time again: Fall Festival at St. Francis of Assisi! The festival will be two days, Friday and Saturday September 30th and October 1st from 8am to 4pm each day. Trailer Tuesdays will begin July 12th from 9am until noon. Volunteers will be available to take your donations in the lower parking area.
T Shirts
The T-shirts this year are going to be either kelly green, emerald green or lime green they will be $13 in advance. If you are interested in getting a t-shirt please see your venue head, or if you are not working with a Venu and wish to buy a T-shirt, plese see Michele in the office. The sizes and money need to be turned in by August 23rd. No orders after the 23rd will be accepted. We need to have an order of at least 40 shirts to make it worthwhile for the vendor.
Trailer Tuesday
Our first Trailer Tuesday for this year's Fall Festival will begin on July 12th at 9am and run until 12pm. We will be taking your donations at this time and we could use your donations of time to help with our festival.
Festival Workers' Lunch
Lynn Toombs is organizing lunches for festival workers. She needs two volunteers per week and needs donations of these food items for the first luncheon on July 12:
- 2 large cans of tuna
- 3-4 pounds of sliced ham
- Rye, Wheat and white bread
- 2 deserts
- Deviled eggs
- Chips, etc.
- Tomato, onion, cucumber, green pepper and celery
- Cole slaw or tossed salad and spinach
- Spcial dishes (macaroni and cheese) etc.
- Soup
- Iced Tea and Soda

Spiritual Adoption Update
Spiritual Adoption - 29 WEEKS
The little one’s muscles and lungs continue to mature. His head is growing bigger in order to make room for his developing brain. Mom will need plenty of good nutrition in order to meet his needs as well as hers. He is very active now, and the doctor may ask mom to “count kicks” to make sure the baby is continuing to thrive.

There will be a Motorcycle Ride and Retreat on Monday, October 4 (weather permitting) beginning at 10:00. We will meet at the church at 10:00 for a short talk and then ride to Dahlonega for lunch and conversation. Then we'll take a leisurely ride back to Blairsville.
