The Wedding Feast
“The Kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son. He dispatched his servants to summon the invited guests to the feast, but they refused to come. (Mt22:2-3)
Today, we hear the Parable of the Wedding Feast in which the kingdom of heaven is compared to a king who holds a wedding feast for his son. At the time of the feast, the invited guest refuse to attend. He sends his servants to call the guests, but they mistreat some of the servants and some are even killed. In response, the king sends his servants out into the streets to and invite new guest, good and bad alike, to wedding feast because the first guests are not worthy to attend.
This parable reminds us of God’s generous invitation to attend the heavenly banquet. God’s invitation to partake in his great banquet is not restricted to only a select few, his kingdom is now open to all, without any distinction, even to those who seem unworthy.
Are we prepared to accept his invitation?
