Someone asked him, "Lord, will only a few be saved?" He answered them, "Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter but will not be strong enough."
"And there will be wailing and grinding of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God and you yourselves cast out."
(Luke 13:23-24, 28)
In the Gospel this weekend, the
Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time, we hear Jesus talk about what it will be like for those who miss out on heaven, for those who will see the door to heaven shut to them forever. The path to Heaven is through Jesus' teachings, walking the path of love, and surrendering to His grace, but this will not be easy. Jesus tells us it is going to be difficult for the gate is narrow. In the end, there will be judgement and we will be faced with the consequences of the choices we make in our life.
