Our job as SAL catechists is to "mentor and accompany young people, serve as witness, assist parents and pastors in teaching the faith and strive for your own holiness."
Lord God,
source of all wisdom and knowledge,
you sent your Son, Jesus Christ, to live among us
and proclaim his message of faith, hope, and love to all nations.
In your goodness
bless our brothers and sisters
who have offered themselves as catechists for your Church.
Strengthen them with your gifts
that they may teach by word and example
the truth which comes from you. AMEN!
This upcoming weekend, September 11 and 12, Father will offer a Blessing of Catechists at all Masses. He will ask you to stand for that blessing after the homily. Thank you for all you do!
You should have received an email with your rosters and your student's confidential information. These will be printed and in your classroom file cabinet drawers along with an attendance sheet. Post the attendance sheet on your doors once completed so that the Principals can log your students in. Your student's Gospel Weeklies and Handbooks will be in the drawers as well. Remember, the Gospel weeklies do not start until the weekend of 9/18. You can use this time to get to know your students and their parents. By the way, the readings for the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time are awesome and you can still share the gospel with the kids and do a "mini" lesson if you have time.
Don't forget to email your parents introducing yourself and asking if any of them would be willing to sub in case of emergency or illness. Anyone that comes forward needs to take Safe & Sacred Training before working with the children.
