Good afternoon SAL Families!
We had a great kick-off! Look forward to seeing your teens and tweens September 11!
Developmentally, youth around the age of 12 start to separate from parents and start seeking a peer group and other adult mentors for guidance. We seek to meet them in this moment by putting them into small groups that encourage them to build friend and adult relationships based on Christ. Through these relationships, our hope is they will be guided and molded into the saints they were created to be! With that being said, I do my best to pair kiddos with their friends and using the information you provided at registration. However, if you find your child doesn't want to attend youth group because they aren't with their friends, please let me know. I never want someone not to come solely for that reason. I pray they form relationships in their small groups that will build into a community of faith that lasts for many years!
**Please prayerfully consider volunteering as an assistant mentor leader. I'm in need of one for 5th/6th grade and one for 7th/8th grade. Please email me to learn more!**

I'm happy to say Middle School Ministry eNews will start to go straight to your inbox starting today! You will no longer need to search for RE or Youth Ministry news in the parish eNews each week.
Starting September 7th, you can expect an email from Rooted (for those with 5th/6th graders) and/or Edge (for those with 7th/8th graders) each week on Wednesday. You will still be able to access these same emails from the Middle School Ministry website and the Thursday parish eNews as well. You can also expect a reminder email regarding if we meet or not on Sunday afternoons. If you prefer not to receive any of these emails directly to your inbox, you can unsubscribe at the bottom.

Youth Liturgical Ministry*Critical Need
We encourage our youth to serve as hospitality ministers and lectors during Sunday, 5 pm Mass. Rooted and Edge have assigned Masses they are responsible for this year. If your youth wants to sign up to serve, please check out the signup below. Training is 30 minutes before Mass starts. If you are already trained, you only need to show up 15 minutes early.
**We need a “Mass parent” to help oversee the youth during Mass. If you typically attend 5 pm Mass and are willing to help, please sign up below.
How can I help?
We are still short on Sunday kitchen help. There are also opportunities to help with special events and service days. Sign-ups are below!
Each week your tween will be expected to read their Action Bible. It will help us go much deeper if they are familiar with the Bible stories ahead of time. We find most tweens read way ahead since the book is so engaging! It shouldn't be a burden though. We will hand out the Action Bible to our new tweens and a bookmark to everyone with the reading list on the 11th!
This year we will be spending most of our time in small group and less time in the big group. My hope is that those who can come consistently will be deep and lasting friendships with each other and with Christ.
