Hello 4 year old preschool parents!
I wanted to send a little reminder and information off to you about next week.
First of all, if you need to reach me, please text me at: 920-390-0232, email me at
tluers@stjknights.org or call the school at 319-653-3631. If you have a change of plans for the end of the day, it is best to contact the office directly. They will be sure I get the message.
1. Preschool students that are being dropped off must park in the parking lot and walk your child into the school doors. The older students can be dropped off on the curb and walk into Tobin Hall, but preschool can not. We understand that this can be an extra step, however, we are sure you understand this is for safety reasons.
2. If you drop off your child and/or pick them up, please remember to initial the check in/check out sheet each time.
3. Students can be dropped off as early as 7:50 and no later than 8:10. Shooting for 8:00 is the best bet for getting into school on time. The first day you are welcome to walk your child to the classroom and help them find their hook for their backpack. After helping them hang up their backpack, we would like them to go to their table spot and play with the toys that are on it. We will have "free choice" time later in the day, you can let them know that if they want to wander around the room and play. You can help introduce your child to the other children at their table as well! It is best not to linger too long. We would ask that all parents say goodbye by 8:15 so that we can begin our day.
4. The second day of school, we ask that parents drop kids off in the lobby of the school to say goodbye. This can be difficult. But, it is much less emotional for the children and also helps foster a little more independence. Encourage your child to be their best, have so much fun and that you just can not wait to see them after school! The more excited you are, the more they will have the courage to be brave and have fun at school.
5. Pick up/End of the school day is at 3:05 this year.
6. Please text me about how your child is getting home the first day of school and if the plan will change for the second day of school. If your child rides a bus, you will need to let me know what bus they will be riding. You can call the bus office at 319-653-3695 if you are unsure, they can let you know which bus your child will be riding.
7. The first week of school is all about learning a few school expectations and play. We will read some stories about preschool, sing lots of fun songs, explore our classroom and get to know each other. We have so many fun things planned and We are SO excited!!!
8. If your child talks about other people being in our classroom that is because we have two peer helpers. Sammy will be here form 11:10-12:35 to help out before and during lunch and DJ is here from 1:10-2:35 to help with nap, math and afternoon recess. These students get High School credit and are able to leave their school to come here to St. James to help out! I am very pleased with how kind and compassionate these two teens are!
Again, thank you for trusting me with your child. We know this is a HUGE deal! Ask questions and voice concerns. I am here for you and your family.
Don't forget:
Text (920-390-0232) me your child's end of the day plans!
This way I can save your number as well. THANK YOU!!!!!
HAVE A SUPER WEEKEND!!!!!!!
~ Mrs. Luers
