SEVEN WAYS TO DO A BETTER CONFESSION
If you are like me, sometimes confession can be a frustrating experience. I forget what I want to say or I feel that I overexplain myself.
Below are seven suggestions to make confession a more spiritually
fruitful event.
1.) Examine your conscience before you enter the confessional. I discourage confession "on the fly"... more here.
Happening This Weekend
Bring Donated Socks to Mass!
Bring a package of new socks with you to Mass this weekend! The donated socks will be distributed to those experiencing homelessness in Oklahoma City. There will be a bin in the narthex reserved for your gift.
Join the Franciscans this Saturday, Sept. 10 as they prepare a lunch in the Ross Hall Kitchen at 11:00 a.m. Around noon the group will proceed to their serving location across from the Jesus House and at the Homeless Alliance. We are in need of socks, adult underwear, adult t-shirts, street shoes, and non-perishable foods/drinks. These donations can be deposited in the large wooden chest outside of Ross Hall before 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10. For more information please contact Bill Full at billfull@cox.net

“Letters From Prison Part 2”
Beginning Sept. 18, join Fr. Jim in the meeting rooms immediately following the 9:30 a.m. Mass for part two of “Letters From Prison”, teaching, discussion and breakfast.
This will be a six week series of two epistles attributed to St. Paul, Colossians and Ephesians, while he was imprisoned for the defense of the gospel. You can sign up and buy your book at the back of the church after Masses this weekend, Sept.10 & 11. Cost is $12.

Lectio divina, or “holy reading,” is an ancient practice from the Christian tradition, dating from the early medieval era of prayerful study of Scripture in monasteries. Lectio divina is a slow, quiet and thoughtful encounter with Scripture. Reading and responding to the biblical passage three times provides time and space for God’s Word to move from our lips, into our minds, and finally into our hearts.

SoulCore combines core strengthening, stretching and functional exercises with meditation on the mysteries and virtues of the rosary. SoulCore is not yoga, nor are yoga poses or Sanskrit referenced at any time. Rather, it is an invitation to integrate body and soul in prayer, fully orienting the heart and mind toward Christ.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
We need helpers for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Assisting with this Montessori-based religious education program will be the highlight of your week! Helpers in the St. Eugene Atrium need not be trained catechists. We need assistance during the school day at set dates and times - before, during and after class. Safe environment and a heart for helping children grow closer to Christ required.

Volunteer for Vagabond Missions in OKC
Teens in the inner-city face a cycle of neglect, violence and broken family life. Vagabond Missions intervenes during this time of crisis by inviting them into a relationship with God and others. Through outreach and mentorship, teens experience hope for their lives and a place to call home. Vagabond Missions is actively recruiting volunteers to serve this need.
