When is the last time you sat down to enjoy a meal with your family or close friends; not just to eat food in close proximity to each other, but to bask in each other's presence and grow in love for one another? For most of us, this doesn't happen at a typical meal. But this is the kind of meal God wants to share with us. This is the kind of meal he has prepared for us and invites us to participate in through the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
If God’s people had stayed close to him, there might have been no need for the prophets. God sent prophets at critical times to call the people back to their covenant relationship. It is nearly impossible to understand the work and the message of Jesus without the prophetic books. Discover how God is constantly calling you to a deeper relationship as well as the ways you are called to be the voice of God to others.
Designed to give you a solid understanding of God’s plan for humanity. It addresses the two most fundamental and universal questions:
- What does it mean to be made human, male and female, in the image and likeness of God?
- How can I live my life in a way that brings happiness and fulfillment?
This study is for every “body” who desires to reach his or her full potential in this life.
Living amidst the busyness and hurry of our current world, we can lose the gifts that come with pondering. The pressures and pace we maintain in other parts of our lives can seep into our attempts to pray. Our intent in this program is to offer a method of approaching prayer with the upcoming Sunday’s readings and utilizing a process of gentle, prayerful reading called Lectio Divina (Holy Reading).
Can we trust the Gospels? Do we really know who wrote them? Do the Gospels communicate truth – or fabricated fables? Who is Jesus? Who did Jesus claim to be? Dr. Pitre’s powerful presentation will strengthen your faith so that you can not only stand firm and profess that Jesus truly is “the Christ, the Son of the living God,” but also confidently respond to any skeptics you encounter.
Bring a cup of coffee and join other parents during Faith Formation classes to discuss our spirituality as we encourage each other to grow closer to God. We will use Lindsay Schlegel's book, "Don't' Forget to Say Thank You" as a guide to our discussions. Lindsay takes parenting questions, such as "Do you need help?", and turns it around to consider God asking ourselves those questions.
For Young Adults: late teens to 30-somethings.
