Holy Cross will offer a Virtus Training on Sept 22 at 7pm for all who volunteer and need certification regarding safe environment. See below under Parish News" for sign ups.
Come tomorrow, Sept 14th, to celebrate the Feast of the Holy Cross at 6pm with the opening of the Time Capsule and a light dinner. All are welcome!
There will be NO 9am MASS tomorrow!

Did you know that Holy Cross has a time capsule??
It was created when the Parish Center was dedicated in 1997. The capsule is to be opened 25 years later on the Feast of the Holy Cross, September 14, 2022.
The capsule is located on a wall in the hall across from the elevator on the first floor.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, Holy Cross invites you on Wednesday, Sept 14th for:
Mass at 6pm, followed by the opening of the capsule, then the sharing a simple meal.
ALL ARE WELCOME!!!
There will be NO Mass on Wednesday morning, September 14th.
St Joseph of Arimathea Cemetery Ministry Updates!!
With the establishment of the St Joseph of Arimathea Ministry in March of this year, a dedicated group of volunteers has been meeting to assess and revise needed upgrades for the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery on Bedford Avenue.
As you may know, Holy Cross has owned (through the Diocese) and maintained a beautiful and old cemetery property that dates back to 1874. It is a truly hallowed and spiritual place. Many of our parishioners have family plots there.
After two back to back retirements of both George Beths and Elizabeth Richardson from cemetery management, the ministry has been working to address several updates to the cemetery. To learn of these updates, see below.
If you have questions about the cemetery or interest in knowing more about procuring a plot or plots, please contact Annette Flag in the Office at 434 846-5245.

Do you know the protocols for keeping our parish safe for our most vulnerabe?? Have you been VIRTUS trained through the diocese?
Holy Cross will host a training session on Thursday, September 22 and 7pm in the large classroom upstairs. All volunteers who regularly interact with children and youth should attend this Protecting God’s Children for Adults training session.
There is no charge and it will last approximately two hours.

The Dedication of the library will be Sunday, Oct 2nd, between the 8am and 11am Masses at 9:30am.
Come see the many new books acquired to meet your needs and help you grow in faith.
Our library is located on the second floor and is open to all when the parish is open. Come visit!!
Come check out a book or resource for a period of three weeks by completing the check out/in sheet on the counter as you enter the Library. Policies will be posted.

We all enjoy having coffee, donuts and fellowship after Mass but this takes volunteers to set up, serve and clean up.
Times Needed:
First and fourth Sunday 8am Masses

Wednesday we celebrate The Exaltation of the Holy Cross. This Feast traces its beginning to Jerusalem and the dedication of the church built on the site of Mount Calvary in 335.

2021 Jesse Tree Ministry
Elves Delivered! This past week Jesse Tree gifts, food, and even stockings for the younger children, were distributed to 77 households in our area. Families came from our parish community, as well as those referred to us by Interfaith Outreach Association, Lynchburg Social Services, Miriam’s House and McGurk House.
Thanks: Many thanks to all those who made the 2021 Jesse Tree Ministry a success!
We will resume distributing the monthly bags in the Commons the first weekend in February.
