The naming of a new parish is an exciting part of becoming one and we invite all registered parishioners of Holy Sepulcher and Saint Kilian Parishes to be involved in this important process. Please take some time to prayerfully reflect on a new name, and carefully consider the reasons for proposing the name. The proposed name must meet the criteria below. Please include your rationale, your name and email address. Your rationale is important because it provides an explanation for the recommendation. Your name and email address will be used to verify your status as a registered parishioner. registered parishioner may propose one new parish name.
Any proposed name should be taken from:
Aspects of the Persons of the Most Holy Trinity
Our Lord Jesus Christ, a mystery of His life or His name as used in the liturgy or Scripture
The Blessed Virgin Mary under a specific title already found in the Church’s liturgy
The holy archangels or angels
A saint from those found on the Church's calendar of memorials and feasts
The names of those declared "blessed" by the Church
Please avoid the following:
Hyphenated names of current parishes are not permitted.
The online Submission Form will be activated on Thursday, September 15, 2022 and deactivated at the end of the day on Monday, October 17, 2022.
Paper forms are available at the Parish Offices or they can be mailed to homes.
Paper forms must be received at either Parish Office by Monday, October 17, 2022.
Remaining stages of the Process
After October 17, 2022, the Pastoral Council together with the Pastor will compile a list of 20 names.
These names will be submitted to Bishop Zubik for a “pre-approval.”
From the list that is returned from the Bishop, registered parishioners will be given an opportunity to pick their top five (5) names.
Pastoral Council, together with the Pastor will compile a list of five names.
Those five names will be submitted to Bishop Zubik and he will select the new parish name from them.
The timetable for this process will unfold according to the Bishop’s schedule.
