Next week is Homecoming Week! Our dress-up theme days are:
Monday- Sports
Tuesday- Disney
Wednesday- Pride Clothes
Thursday-Pajama Day
Friday- Orange and Black (Demon Shirts)
Wow! Two students in one class in one week have new baby siblings. Congratulations to Bennett and Dalia and their families!
Merris will celebrate her birthday next week!
Math-
We took our first chapter test today. This test covered place value with 2-digit numbers, odd and even numbers, and counting patterns. Most of this is a review of 1st grade math. These tests will go home Monday. We'll start chapter 2 by counting the tens in one hundred using base ten blocks. They will use a place value chart with hundreds, tens, and ones to write 3-digit numbers after counting the base ten blocks.
Reading-
Our next reading and spelling tests will be Friday, Sept. 23rd. We'll practice compare and contrast with pictures and stories, they will use a glossary, and practice writing a friendly letter.
Science-
The students all have their mealworms; some of them have names. One student noticed that they shed their skin! They were really surprised at how fast they can move. We've also watched our caterpillars grow this past week. They seem to be moving to the top of the container, which means they'll soon begin the pupa stage. We'll have lots of vocabulary to cover next week. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great weekend!
