Un mensaje del p. Carlos
Los Lazaros de nuestro tiempo.
Este domingo la palabra de Dios nos dirige un mensaje muy realista y nos reta para que lo vivamos como personas, familia, comunidad de creyentes. Por un lado, está la vivencia de los valores, que no han quedado atrás en esta sociedad moderna, por ejemplo, tenemos: valores humanos, espirituales, evangélicos, familiares, personales.
Si nos encontramos con una persona que esta en una emergencia de salud, por ejemplo, lo lógico es que nos acerquemos y ofrezcamos nuestra ayuda o llamemos a los que pueden atender su necesidad. Pero no debemos quedarnos indiferentes y pasar de largo como si esto no existe en ese momento. Tal vez mas tarde puede ser alguien de mi familia que cae en una situación parecida. ¿Qué haríamos? O ¿qué diríamos si alguien le auxilia?
El cielo o el infierno lo ganamos aquí, hoy y ahora. O sea, debemos ser sujetos activos de nuestra salvación, esto quiere decir que cada día tenemos oportunidad de hacer y anotar obras buenas en nuestro libro de los buenos actos. Desde lo más mínimo como sonreír hasta lo más difícil que parezca, pero si estamos ahí ya eso hace la diferencia, aunque no estemos preparados para resolverlo, pero hacemos presencia de nuestra solidaridad, amor, ayuda mutua etc.
El relato del evangelio nos muestra dos personas en situaciones totalmente opuestas, uno necesitado de todo y el otro abundando de todo. Y esto no es ajeno, o solo en ese relato bíblico, seguramente tendremos comparaciones en este momento de nuestra propia realidad. ¿Qué hacemos?
Como creyentes católicos y cristianos, nuestra fe nos lleva a pensar y creer en la vida eterna, en la felicidad junto a Dios para siempre. ¿Eso viene o se gana así solo por mi nombre o mi situación económica o social? Seguramente que sabemos que el camino de la salvación se gana, pero ya está dado, cuando Cristo murió y resucito, nos salvó a todos, a todos. Pero nuestra responsabilidad es atender ese gran regalo para que no se eche a perder.
Así que estamos frente a esta realidad de la salvación tan anhelada y buscada por nosotros. Pero de nuevo es aquí en la tierra donde esta el cielo, se hace o se compone por nuestras acciones, decisiones, compromisos y no se puede devolver uno ya después de que falleció, hasta ahí llega todo lo que pude hacer y haber ganado en el cielo.
Que esta palabra nos siga hablando y provocando muchas buenas acciones. Feliz semana y bendiciones de Paz y bien.

Thank you, Lord, for the selfless service of our Franciscan friars, as they minister to us in our parishes, hospitals, missions, and schools.
We pray that you will continue to bless them with humble hearts, full of compassion for all, and boundless energy as they seek to follow your will.
Help us, too, to follow their warm and welcoming dedication to God in prayer, scripture study, sacrifice, and service.
Grateful for the friars’ devotion, we pray that you will continue to lovingly guide them and refresh them as they minister to others. We pray that more young men will hear the call of a Franciscan vocation.
And we joyfully give you thanks and praise always in all things.

The OLG’s Women’s Group will have a Wine and Cheese night from 6:30-8 PM on Wed. Sept 28 on the Portico (new outdoor area at OLG) to celebrate the Kick-Off of their new “Ordering your Priorities" Bible Study. All Women are welcome for Happy Hour and socialize and learn more!
WOMEN OF OLG join us for 'Ordering Your Priorities: Building a Life Well Lived', an immensely practical study and fellowship with other women. It will help us put the most important things first and encourage each other on our journey. There will be eight Wednesday sessions from Oct 5 through Dec 7, with both a daytime and evening offering.

MEN OF OLG Join this fall for the KoC Series: Into the Breach - A call to battle for Catholic men, which urges them to embrace wholeheartedly masculine virtues in a world in crisis. The next session is Monday, September 26 at 7:30 PM. It will be weekly until December 12 (don’t worry if you can’t make it all.)

Community Event
Join the Monday Night Rosary Group and the Family Faith Formation Ministry, with music from Mrs. Bobbi Lambert on Saturday, October 8 from 9:30-11:30 AM for a morning of fellowship and prayer.
Refreshments begin in the Portico at 9:30 AM, followed by a Community Rosary in the Church. Please bring your rosary and celebrate together a community Rosary activity for all ages.

Our Parish is ministered by the Conventual Franciscan Friars of the St. Joseph of Cupertino Province. This Province of Friars are members of a worldwide fraternity of Roman Catholic men who follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the spirit of our founder, St. Francis of Assisi. The feast day of Francis of Assisi is October 4.
