Dinner and a Movie: Sept. 24, 6:00 PM. The Bells of St. Mary's. This 1945 much beloved movie features Bing Crosby as Fr. O'Malley, and Ingrid Bergman as Sr. Benedict, trying to save a rundown parochial school on the verge of condemnation. Can they do it? Come out and see. This movie will soften the hardest of hearts.
Priesthood Sunday: Sunday, September 25, is Priesthood Sunday. We are blessed to have two wonderful priests who minister to us. We will have paper tulip petals and leaves on which to write a note of thanksgiving and love for Fr. Baer and Fr. Hill. You may also commit to praying for them during the week. Just note that on the petal or leaf and thumb tack it to the bulletin board in the Parish Hall. Thank you!
Healthy Cooking Class:
Returning for three days on October 6, 13, and 27, from 6:30 - 9:00 PM. Retired Nurse Educator and Culinary Class teacher, Kim Arbuthnot, R.N. will be returning to St. Nicholas to present three classes on quick, healthy, and tasty dishes that you can recreate in your own home. All participants must register beforehand. Sign-ups will begin the weekend of September 17/18 in the parish hall and on Flocknotes.
Bazaar Updates: September
Friday, October 21, and Saturday, October 22, 2022.
Attention Crafters: We have a
Craft Workshop on Thursday, Sept. 22 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM and you are invited! We will be making wine cork key chains to be sold at the Bazaar. We will teach you all you need to know to complete this craft.
This workshop is intended for older teens and adults as the small pieces we will be using, such as eyebolts, washers, and jump rings may pose a choking hazard for younger children. If you have a small pair of needle nose pliers, please bring them with you. For more information, please contact Debbie Rausch at
rauschda@gmail.com or 301.395.9912
We will be kicking off our ONE GRAND RAFFLE at the bazaar. The winner will be drawn at our Feast Day Dinner on December 6.
We are currently seeking volunteers to help make this year's bazaar the BEST EVER!
We hold meetings on the first Tuesday of the month in the Parish Hall at 7:00 PM. You are cordially invited to attend! If you can't attend the meeting, but would like to volunteer your time or talents, please contact our chairperson, Donna Cellini at
donnac803@aol.com.
We are currently collecting:
Gift Baskets: Always a popular event, we need parishioner's donations of themed gift baskets for the raffle. The “I Love Laurel” basket was very well received! Your ideas and donations are welcome. Sharon Tredway is ready to receive baskets and give more information.
Pages from the Past: Adult and children's books, music CDs, and movie DVDs are now being accepted. Please no textbooks, VHS tapes, or cassette tapes. There are boxes in the Parish Hall for your donations. Thank you!
