Week 2
Happy Friday, All!
It was a busy and fun week. This is where school and going daily can become a little emotional. They are beginning to realize that we are here all day long and away form loved ones more than they are used to. All of you are doing a fantastic job of encouraging your children to have a great day and make great choices. Nice job!
Housekeeping:
- If you have gotten and email from Miss Kaitlyn in the office about paperwork, send it in when you have it completed. We need this by October 6th.
- We have most of the All About Us papers form families. If you lost it, please just use a sheet of paper and add the following: *a picture of your family *of picture of your child * 3 things they like to do *favorite things like: color or animal or food or place *tell us something about your child. We re laminating these and putting them into a class book this coming week. We would LOVE to have one from every child.
- Library Books are always due Monday
- Send a water bottle to keep here are school. We will send them home Thursday to be washed.
- We will wash all bedding here at school weekly for rest time.
- If your child needs a stuffed animal or blanket to sleep with at nap time, that is GREAT! We can make sure it gets home daily.
- Green folders have any paperwork from school in them, creations and a "behavior calendar" in them. Check it out daily to see how your child is doing at school.
- The temps are dropping, please begin sending a sweatshirt or jacket daily with your child.

Make Birthday Cupcakes in the Sensory Table with rice, mini cups and items to put on the cupcakes. And, Birthday books in the Reading Center. We are having a BLAST!
Focus Wall:
This week we worked on-----
Shape-Circle
Letter- L,l
Color-Purple
Trait-Friendly
Rhyme- Twinkle Twinkle
Social Skills:
Preschool, especially in the beginning of the year, is mostly about socialization. Playing nicely, waiting your turn, using kind words, expressing how we are feeling, and following school expectations. This can be overwhelming and difficult at times for young children. We do our very best to model behaviors that we would like to see, point out students that are showing the desired behavior and re-directing when necessary.
Parent Tip:
When you would like your child to stop a behavior try counting to 3. Example: They are throwing toys and you've asked them to "please stop throwing the toys, we need to be safe". If they continue, Say: "Please stop throwing the toys. One, Two, Three" Usually, they will stop. If not, we would say. Oh bummer, you didn't stop throwing the toys like I asked, now you have to----what ever your consequence is. (Make is realistic so you can follow through) Maybe Now your are all done playing with that and you (the parent) takes it away. Or, you have to sit out for 2 minutes to calm down. Or, that toy you are throwing is going away for the rest of today. We can try again tomorrow.
So, to stop an undesirable behavior, try counting to 3. Give it a try! We call it, 1, 2, 3 MAGIC! (or so we hope)
This class is literally a JOY! All different talents and personalities, but they are all so SWEET! We are loving every minute of time we get with these littles.
Have a GREAT weekend!
