Parish food pantries and ministries focused on addressing hunger are invited to apply for a 2022 Rice Bowl Grant. These grants of $1,000 can support the work of those fighting food insecurity in our local communities. Organizations must be located in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Applications are due by October 14, 2022.
The grants are funded by the Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl project, which takes place each year during Lent. Thank you to all who have participated and made this program possible.

Restorative Justice Christmas Angels Project

The Restorative Justice Christmas Angels program is designed to support children affected by homicide, children with a parent in prison, and children affected by domestic violence. With your support, we can bring extra joy into their lives during the Christmas season.
Families in need can apply between September 15 and November 15, 2022, to receive gifts on December 22, 2022.
In addition, support is needed to make this program possible. Parishes, congregations, schools, non-profit organizations, businesses, and other groups are invited to hold a gift card drive. Individuals can also adopt a child through monetary donations. Finally, we need volunteers to help at the family Christmas celebration on December 22. For full details, visit the website above.

Former Planned Parenthood workers have said the no-show rates for abortion appointments go as high as 75% when people are peacefully praying outside. Pray the rosary and other devotions. Sidewalk counseling is not expected. The busiest time for abortions is Saturday morning, so commitment at that time is particularly needed.

Due to the requirement of some (arch)diocese, it is sometimes necessary to send a Letter of Suitability for Lay Ministry/Event Outside the Archdiocese of San Francisco (ADSF) to ensure the person is in compliance in the Archdiocese and has up-to-date VIRTUS training and fingerprinting. The ADSF, therefore, has put online (above) a form to request a Letter of Suitability for Lay Ministers. The request must be submitted at least two weeks before the event they will be attending. Once completed and submitted with all necessary information and forms, it will go to Karen McLaughlin who will prepare the letter and have it signed by the Archbishop or Chancellor. When the Letter of Suitability is ready, it will be emailed back to the person at the email provided on the form.
