The pep rally was a lot of fun for us this morning; I think it helped start the day well for everyone.
Please keep sending a sweatshirt or jacket with your child, it really helps on our cool mornings. If it is 55 degrees to 46 degrees they have to wear a jacket. If it is 45 degrees or below they need a coat, hat, and gloves. When it feels like 10 degrees or below we stay inside.
Next Tuesday, midterm reports go home.
Mrs. Jewel will sub for me next Thursday and Friday, for my teacher clarity training.
Math-
They will work on recognizing the word form of three digit numbers, and name the place value of each digit. Students will practice writing 3-digit numbers in word form. The main thing reviewed in chapter 2 is place value, because when they have to start adding and subtracting in chapters 4, 5, and 6, they will need to keep their numbers in the correct place value column. They will also begin regrouping in these chapters.
Reading-
Our next story is "Henry and Mudge Under the Yellow Moon." They will work to understand the author's purpose for writing a story, finish writing a friendly letter, and practice working with multiple meaning words. We always practice reading fluency, accuracy, and rate when we read the main selections. I will send the reading test we took today, home on Monday.
Science-
We've kept an eye on changes in the plants and insects and noticed on Monday that all of the caterpillars are in the pupa stage. Students decided they wanted to stake their plants this week because they were starting to look like a mess. Now they're standing as straight as possible. We also have many more seed pods, these seeds will eventually go home.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a wonderful weekend!
