On August 17, 2022, the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana granted $15,000 in support of St. Alphonsus Liguori Parish towards efforts with ILADD (Independent Living for Adults with Developmental/Intellectual Disabilities). $5,000 will help pay for repairs and upgrade a facility which was donated to ILADD, and $10,000 will go towards instructors and programs.
Since the beginning of 2021, ILADD has grown from serving 10 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to now serving more than 80, through a variety of independent living classes, clubs, self-advocate meetings, game nights and social outings. ILADD also offers informational seminars and plans to build a housing development for adults with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“We are extremely grateful and blessed to receive this grant that will further enhance ILADD’s programming and enable us to serve even more adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said Tom Easterday, ILADD’s president and long-time St. Alphonsus Liguori parishioner.
