The Word of Life intercessions and bulletin quotes for the month of October are attached.
October 2 is Respect Life Sunday and begins the U.S. Church's observance of October as Respect Life Month.
As you have seen, the new edition of the annual Respect Life Program was sent to all parishes in early September. The following is a brief summary/reminder of the resources available for parishes to use on Respect Life Sunday and during the month:
POSTER - included in the September mailing, depicts this year's theme "Called to Serve Moms in Need". This should be hung on a bulletin board or other appropriate space.
REFLECTION FLYER "Called to Serve Moms in Need" - describing this year's theme. A print copy was included in the September mailing and a pdf copy is attached to this email. Duplicating and inserting this one-pager into the bulletin on Oct. 2 or another Sunday in October is strongly encouraged as it helps explain the importance of observing Respect Life Month and the Church's beautiful wisdom on the sacredness of human life. A companion bulletin or pulpit announcement could read as follows: Every October, we celebrate Respect Life Month. We consider more deeply why every human life is valuable and reflect on how to build a culture that protects life from conception to natural death. See the insert in today's bulletin to learn more!
USCCB Pro-Life Committee Chairman's STATEMENT "Building a Culture of Life in a Post-Roe World" (also attached) is an excellent and inspirational piece to help parishioners understand more about how we can all play a part in working together to build a culture of life and love. It is highly recommended that this piece be made available through duplication as a bulletin insert or other suitable means.
Lastly, please continue to utilize the Project Rachel bulletin announcement in your parish bulletin as often as space permits (text of announcement included at the bottom of page 2 in the attached Word of Life file). It is particularly important at this time of the overturning of Roe v. Wade that we work to raise awareness of this important healing ministry of the church.
THANK YOU!
