Boxes of Joy: Service Project Opportunity

For several years, our Christian Formation Family has participated in Boxes of Joy, a project sponsored by Cross Catholic Outreach to benefit children in developing countries. Box of Joy is a Christmas shoe box, donated and packed with small toys, clothing, school supplies, and hygiene items. Each box may be the only Christmas gift the recipient will receive. Our goal is to assemble 125 boxes by November 5th. Columbus Day Holiday

The Parish office will be closed on Monday, October 10, 2022 in observance of the Columbus Day holiday. Daily Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m.

Children's Liturgy of the Word

"Jesus said, 'Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these,'" - Matthew 19:14.

Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW), will be offered to our St. E's family, at the 9am Sunday Masses, starting this fall! But, in order for this to happen, we need Virtus-trained young adults and adults to volunteer to serve as CLOW ministers. If you might be interested in serving as a CLOW minister to share the love of Jesus and scripture with our young ones, one Sunday a month, please contact Stephanie Moss (smoss@stelizabethchurchmd.org) to learn more!

St. Elizabeth's Outreach to SOME on Saturday, October 8

Since September 1978, St. Elizabeth has provided meals to So Others Might Eat in Washington, D.C. on the second Saturday of every month. We can always use donors -- this can be done on an occasional or regular basis -- to support this longstanding parish service. (This year donors have been especially generous in their food contributions.) Our next parish outreach to "SOME" will be on Saturday, October 8..

- St. Elizabeth will only drop off its food donations at SOME, i.e., we will not remain at SOME (as we did prior to COVID) to help prepare the food for serving the clients.

- Chicken is still the primary food donation provided in the form of "boxed chicken" (e.g., Banquet brand boxes) and rotisserie chicken.

- Oranges and bananas are also very welcome.

St. Elizabeth's parking lot in front of the school between 8:30 and 9:30 AM on Saturday morning, October 8.

Walking with Purpose, St. Elizabeth’s Women's Bible Study

We would like to welcome women of the parish to join us this Fall for our next Walking with Purpose Bible Study beginning Monday, October 18, 2022, Touching the Divine. This study focuses on the many qualities of Jesus revealed through the Gospel of John, and draws us into a deeper, loving relationship with Jesus as we reflect on His life and personality. Learn from John’s experience in Touching the Divine, a revised 22-lesson Bible study. St. John referred to himself as “the disciple whom Jesus loved” and as we study, John will teach us how much Jesus loves us, and how His love is the true satisfaction of our souls. Knowing Christ more intimately, as John did, will touch your heart and fill you with hope!

When/How will we be studying? We will have two options available this year. You are welcome to change among them at any time based on your comfort level. We will have classes on Tuesdays beginning the week of October 3rd, from 12:00 p.m -1:30 p.m. which will be in person. The evening class will be on Monday evenings from 7:00-8:18 p.m. in person. You can switch between afternoon and evening based on your schedule.
