Celebrating Mass with Children

Having young children at Mass is challenging. Enough said! Our parish is happy to offer a nursery for children through age 4. Children's Liturgy of the Word is celebrated as often as we have an available leader scheduled. (Click here to volunteer!)That is for children age 4 through grade 2. Below are some materials that you may find helpful to do at home; some can even be done silently in the pew during Mass.

Our Sunday Visitor – Opening the Word – Re-rooting the Mulberry Tree: When considering this passage from Luke’s Gospel, we often sit with the image of the mustard seed. Instead, I’d like to sit with the image of a mulberry tree uprooting and re-rooting itself in the sea. In particular, what if we thought of the mulberry tree as our soul? Reading the image of the mulberry tree as our soul, the passages for this Sunday tell us about the conversion brought about by faith: re-rooting ourselves in the “sea” of Christ’s living water. read more...
