OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF THE ROSARY

Consider praying at least a decade of your rosary each day in October, a month dedicated to Our Lady. A decade of the rosary is an Our Father; ten Hail Marys; one Glory Be. You might consider place a rosary on your rear view mirror and praying a bit while you are in traffic. I find it very calming ... more here.

Join fellow parishioners at St. Eugene and pray the rosary at 3 p.m. this Sunday, Oct. 2 (and every first Sunday year-round). Parishioners also pray together weekly at 1 p.m. every Tuesday in the Chapel.

SoulCore Starts Tomorrow!

Friday, Sept. 30

SoulCore combines core strengthening, stretching and functional exercises with meditation on the mysteries and virtues of the rosary. SoulCore is not yoga, nor are yoga poses or Sanskrit referenced at any time. Rather, it is an invitation to integrate body and soul in prayer, fully orienting the heart and mind toward Christ.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

We need helpers for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd!

Like crafting, sewing, painting, woodworking, etc.? Please help us make needed materials on Friday, Sept. 30 at 9:30 a.m. in the Bride's Room.
Interested in assisting trained catechists in the Atrium? Join us for an Orientation to the Atrium session for adults on Friday, Sept. 30 at 10:30 a.m. in the Atrium.

Volunteer for Children's Liturgy of the Word

The commitment for a Children's Liturgy of the Word Catechist is once a month to lead the children ages four to second grade in a discussion/teaching about the Sunday Readings, specifically the Gospel.

Each Catechist has a folder that provides background information and the "how to" for teaching each Sunday. It is a meaningful opportunity to do a beautiful ministry for the children of our parish!

Openings for Catechists are:

5 p.m. Saturday Vigil Mass - all Sundays except third Saturday of the month;

9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass - openings for second Sunday of the month;

5 p.m. Sunday Mass - openings at all Masses.

BLAZE: A New Ministry Offering for Tween/Teen Girls!

BLAZE is a ministry specifically created for tween/teen girls by Walking with Purpose.

Through the BLAZE “Belong” curriculum, girls will receive practical teaching in an engaging way to help them navigate social media, identity issues and the drama of friendships. Each lesson compares the lies of this world with the truth found in Scripture to strengthen girls’ emotional health and spiritual resilience.

Thanks to two dynamic, young, faith-filled women leaders, BLAZE is coming to St. Eugene!

Weekly gatherings will take place on Mondays from 3:15 - 4:15 p.m. starting October 24. Each week, participants will be led through an ice breaker activity and a short lesson based on a lie found in the world and a truth found in Scripture. The girls will also leave with a small take-home gift as a reminder of that lesson. For more information contact blaze@steugenes.org.

Join Group Lectio Divina

Lectio divina, or “holy reading,” is an ancient practice from the Christian tradition, dating from the early medieval era of prayerful study of scripture in monasteries. Lectio divina is a slow, quiet and thoughtful encounter with Scripture. Reading and responding to the biblical passage three times provides time and space for God’s Word to move from our lips, into our minds, and finally into our hearts. All are welcome. Bring your favorite bible!

Become an RCIA Sponsor

Part of our commitment to our Faith is to share the "Good News" with others as Intentional Missionary Disciples. An important way to do this is through the role of a Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) sponsor. The sponsor walks this Journey of Faith with one of the Participants in the class.

The commitment is attending the class with the Participant (Tuesdays, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.) and the three Rites that occur during the year on a Sunday.

Every participant to be baptized, to come into Full Communion with the Catholic Church, or to complete his/her Sacraments of Initiation must have a Sponsor who represents the Church in affirming the sincerity and readiness to receive our Sacraments. Not only does the Sponsor make a "Faith Friend," but learns a lot about the Catholic Faith. Questions? Contact Judi Wilkinson at judi@steugenes.org.

The Lafferty Library is Open!

The mission of St. Eugene's Lafferty Library is to honor Fr. Lafferty’s legacy and make the library accessible for research and relaxed reading.

The collection of more than 2,300 books is available for review in the parish meeting house at 10804 Greystone. You can check out a book there, click here to review the library's holdings, or reserve a book to pick up in the parish office. Questions? Email library@steugenes.org.
